Unearth a Story: A Summer Reading Program Update

Summer is in full swing here at the Tipton County Public Library, and our “Unearth a Story” Summer Reading Program has already dug up some seriously good times! Here’s a look at everything we’ve been up to so far this month.

Kickoffs at Windfall Branch and the Main Library

We kicked things off in style at both Windfall Branch and the Main Library, and despite the summer heat, the fun never stopped. Kids of all ages dug into games, tackled a blow-up obstacle course, bounced around in the bounce house, and got twisted into balloon creations by our talented balloon twisters. There were plenty of surprises for the whole family, including some tasty ones too!

It was the perfect way to launch a summer full of stories, discovery, and fun. A big thank-you to the Tipton Kiwanis Club for providing hot dogs to all our attendees at the Main Library kickoff. We’re grateful for community partners who help make these celebrations possible!

Summer Reading Storytime with Tipton Community Theatre

We teamed up with some talented friends from Tipton Community Theatre for an “Unearth a Story” Summer Reading Storytime! Children and families dug into a prehistoric adventure with fun dinosaur stories read by theatre members, followed by an activity. It was an evening full of stories and dino-sized fun as we celebrated summer reading together.

Freddy Fossil’s Dino Show

Talk about dinosaurs coming alive! We welcomed the ultimate paleontologist, Freddy Fossil, for a STEAM-focused adventure into a world long since extinct. Freddy Fossil’s Dino Show brought an exhilarating, audience-interactive experience full of dinosaurs, science, and all things JURASSIC SMARTS, sparking excitement for the prehistoric world in kids and grown-ups alike. It was a wonderful way to discover the magic of our past!

Dino-Mite Adventure Storytime at Sharpsville

Our summer reading fun rolled out to Sharpsville’s Park, where families enjoyed a fun, engaging storytime for young children and their caregivers. There were books, songs, rhymes, and interactive activities galore, all with our favorite dino-mite twist.

There’s More Digging to Do!

This is just the beginning of our “Unearth a Story” adventure. There are plenty more programs, prehistoric surprises, and reading fun still to come this summer.
