Theodore Clement Steele (1847-1926)
Theodore Clement (T.C.) Steele was an American Impressionist painter known for his landscapes of Indiana’s countryside. Born on September 11, 1847 in Owen County, Indiana, Steele became one of the leading figures of the Hoosier Group, a collective of Indiana painters who helped bring national recognition to Midwestern art in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
