- Squishy, Squeezy, Puffy Paint Bonanza
Squishy, Squeezy, Puffy Paint Bonanza: Week 5 Colors Tipton County!
What an incredible fifth week we’ve had at Tipton County Public Library! Our “Color Our World” theme has brought vibrant energy and creativity to every corner of our community. From the moment families join us, you can feel the excitement and anticipation for all the colorful activities we have planned.
Our puffy paint adventures at Sharpsville Park and Windfall Branch Library were spectacular! Kids of all ages created with the most delightfully textured paint imaginable. The masterpieces that emerged were nothing short of amazing. Watching kids experiment with layering techniques reminded us that creativity knows no age limits. The joy on every face as they watched their artwork come to life was pure magic.
Family Storytime continued to be a cornerstone of our summer programming, with stories that painted vivid pictures through words and imagination. Our young listeners were captivated by tales of colorful adventures. The interactive elements had everyone participating with enthusiasm, and the laughter echoing through the library reminded us why these shared reading experiences are so precious.
Our teen gaming sessions have been nothing short of spectacular, with young people immersing themselves in worlds filled with brilliant graphics and engaging storylines. These sessions have fostered teamwork, problem-solving skills, and most importantly, friendships that extend beyond the library walls. It’s wonderful to see our teens finding their community here and discovering new interests alongside their peers.
We hope everyone had a fantastic and safe Fourth of July celebration! Whether you spent time with family, enjoyed local festivities, or simply relaxed with a good book, we’re glad you’re part of our library family and look forward to more colorful adventures together in the weeks ahead.
- Safari Adventures & Creative Creations
Safari Adventures & Creative Creations: Week 4 Color Our World
Kids splashed into a world of vibrant fun during Week 4 of our Summer Reading Program! “Color Our World” brought an exciting array of activities that brightened our summer days and sparked creativity in readers of all ages.
Young builders and creative minds joined our popular Lego Club sessions, available at both library locations. Whether constructing towering castles, designing futuristic vehicles, or following your imagination wherever it leads, our Lego Club provides the perfect opportunity to build friendships while building with blocks. These hands-on sessions encourage problem-solving, spatial thinking, and collaborative play among participants.
Adventure awaited at both Sharpsville Park and Windfall Branch Library with our Sand-tastic Sand Art programs. Participants created colorful masterpieces using layered colored sand, exploring color theory while crafting beautiful keepsakes to take home. This messy, creative activity added a splash of color to participants’ summer reading experience.
The week’s excitement reached its peak with the Silly Safari Show at our Main Library. This entertaining and educational program brought the wonders of the animal kingdom right to our community, featuring live animals and interactive presentations that delighted children and adults alike.
All activities are designed to complement our summer reading goals while providing memorable experiences that celebrate the colorful world of books and imagination.
- Pirates, Pottery, and Paint Pours
Pirates, Pottery, and Paint Pours: Week 3 Adventures!
Week 3 of TCPL’s “Color Our World” Summer Reading Program brought an exciting array of creative activities that perfectly embodied this year’s artistic theme. The week was filled with hands-on experiences that allowed participants of all ages to explore different forms of artistic expression while continuing their summer reading journey.
The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the Cap’n Kraken Pirate Show, which transported young adventurers into a world of swashbuckling fun and maritime mystery. This interactive performance not only entertained children with tales of treasure and adventure but also encouraged storytelling and imagination, key components of the reading experience. The show’s colorful costumes and engaging narrative provided a perfect complement to the program’s artistic focus, inspiring children to dive into pirate-themed books and ocean adventures.
Complementing the theatrical excitement, the pottery workshop offered participants the opportunity to get their hands dirty while creating their masterpieces. This tactile art experience allowed children and families to explore sculpture and three-dimensional art forms, connecting perfectly with the “Color Our World” theme. For the teen participants, the art pouring class provided a more sophisticated creative outlet that appealed to older participants in the summer reading program. This trendy art technique, which involves pouring and manipulating paint to create abstract designs, allowed teens to express themselves artistically while exploring concepts of color theory and artistic expression. The class not only resulted in beautiful take-home artwork but also sparked discussions about contemporary art and artists, encouraging teens to seek out books about modern art movements and creative expression.
These diverse activities in week 3 demonstrated TCPL’s commitment to making reading and learning a multi-sensory experience, ensuring that every participant could find something that sparked their interest and creativity.
- Stories & Pebbles
Stories & Pebbles: Theatre Tales and Paint-Splashed Adventures
Week 2 of TCPL’s Summer Reading Program, “Color Our World,” brought exciting community partnerships and outdoor activities that perfectly complement the artistic theme. Tipton Community Theatre hosted a special family storytime session, combining the magic of theatrical storytelling with the summer reading experience. TCT will visit again on July 22 at 10:30 AM. Additionally, the library offered “Paint and Pebbles” activities at two locations: Sharpsville Park and the Windfall Branch library. These hands-on art projects allowed participants to explore their creativity through painting while connecting with nature by decorating pebbles, creating a perfect blend of artistic expression and outdoor engagement.
This summer, TCPL is exploring all aspects of the arts through the summer reading theme “Color Our World.” With locations in both Tipton and Windfall, readers of all ages can engage with artistic themes while maintaining their reading skills during the summer months. There’s still time to register for Summer Reading! Stop in today and get started. TCPL welcomes all community members to participate in Summer Reading.
